10 ARRESTED, 14 SEATBELT VIOLATIONS ISSUED DURING MEMORIAL DAY ENFORCEMENT

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has released the results of a high visibility enforcement effort during the Memorial Day holiday in Natrona County.

According to a press release from WYDOT, as part of the multi-agency Click it or Ticket enforcement effort over Memorial weekend, Natrona County law enforcement stopped 366 vehicles, issued 14 citations for seatbelt violations and arrested 10 impaired drivers.

“While the focus was on buckling up, law enforcement also issued 76 speeding citations and issued 101 warnings for traffic violations,” the written WYDOT statement says. “There were no fatal crashes reported in Natrona county during the operation.”

WYDOT reminds residents and visitors that Natrona County law enforcement agencies are conducting a county-wide, multi-agency, traffic enforcement effort in 2020.

“The Memorial weekend operation was the fourth of six planned operations, and next up will be Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, over the 4th of July weekend,” WYDOT says. “The purpose of the operations is to reduce fatal crashes in Natrona County through the enforcement of impaired driving and seatbelt laws.  Focused enforcement efforts will be surrounded by a media campaign that will stress law enforcements zero-tolerance stance on impaired driving and commitment to seat belt enforcement.”

Along with this enhanced enforcement effort, the Wyoming Highway Patrol is also urging drivers in the county to report suspected impaired drivers to the Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately (REDDI) hotline number at (800) 442-9090.

Callers should be prepared to provide the dispatcher with a description of the vehicle, its location, and direction of travel.
