Casper, WY – According to the statement, multiple callers reported a passenger truck towing a trailer engulfed in flames.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the truck’s cab and engine compartment fully ablaze. They swiftly initiated a fire attack, successfully containing the flames to the vehicle of origin and preventing the fire from spreading further. The occupants of the truck had managed to escape without injury, and as of this report, no injuries have been reported related to the incident.
Firefighters received assistance from the Casper Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, an ambulance from Banner Health Wyoming Medical Center, and telecommunicators with the Public Safety Communications Center.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Natrona County Interagency Fire Investigation Task Force. In light of this incident, Casper Fire-EMS urges residents to remain vigilant about the risk of wildland fires, particularly in Urban Interface areas where vehicle fires can quickly ignite adjacent wildland fuels.
Residents are advised to prepare their homes and surrounding properties for the fall season. Key preparedness steps include:
- Keeping important documents, photographs, and irreplaceable items in a fireproof safe.
- Creating a defensible space around homes, ideally 30-50 feet in all directions, free of tall grass, wood piles, and other flammable materials.
- Clearing dead leaves, branches, and debris from gutters and hard-to-reach areas, such as under decks.
