Casper, WY – On the morning of July 28, 2025, Casper Police responded to a report of a suspicious pressure cooker found on the sidewalk near Aster Street and Indian Paintbrush Street. A witness said a man had placed the object there hours earlier before leaving the scene.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians were called to the scene and conducted a preliminary x-ray, which revealed components consistent with those used in improvised explosive devices. As a precaution, officers established a perimeter, closed nearby roads, and evacuated residents in the immediate area.
Multiple agencies, including the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, ATF, and Regional Emergency Response Team-2, assisted in the response. After a thorough investigation, the device was safely removed and transported for further analysis. The perimeter was lifted by 5:00 p.m.
Further testing found no explosive materials but did reveal substances related to illegal drug use inside the device. No injuries occurred during the incident.
Detective Megan Dovala emphasized the seriousness with which the department treats potential explosive threats and thanked the community and partner agencies for their swift action.
The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is urged to contact Casper Police or Crime Stoppers of Central Wyoming.
