The latest data from the WDH’s hospitalization report is from December 12, and the number of COVID-19 patients in Wyoming hospitals reported at that time was 184. This is the lowest it’s been since November 11 when there was 183 hospitalizations.

One week ago on December 7, hospitalizations were at 207, and the highest number recorded in Wyoming was 247 on November 30.

Wyoming Medical Center in Casper has the most hospitalizations with 44 patients, followed by Cheyenne Regional Medical Center with 43 patients. Wyoming Medical Center has 13 out of 20 available Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, while Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has 16 out of 15 beds available.

Activie COVID-19 cases in Wyoming dropped below 3,000 today, with 2,768 lab-confirmed active cases.

Among Wyoming residents, there have been 321 coronavirus-related deaths, 34,560 lab-confirmed cases, and 31,792 case recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic. There are currently 5,126 probable cases.

State Health Officer Dr. Alexia Harrist said last week that she hopes to see a continued decline in positive cases and hospitalizations. However, the state must stay diligent in taking COVID-19 safety precautions such as mask use and social distancing. She said the state needs to see a “sustained decline” before public health orders can be relaxed or lifted.

The COVID-19 vaccines are starting to make their way to Wyoming with five counties receiving the Pfizer vaccine today, according to Sweetwater County Public Health Officer Dr. Jean Stachon. This vaccine comes in batches of 975 doses.

The remaining 18 counties, including Sweetwater, will receive their first doses of the vaccine next week.

Sweetwater County

The WHD reports that among Sweetwater County residents, there have been 2,415 lab-confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic and 2,091 recoveries. There are currently 324 active cases and 14 deaths.

The 14th death was confirmed last Friday by the WDH.

Sweetwater County Public Health Director Kim Lionberger said the death was a Rock Springs man, age 65-90, who died the week of November 29 to December 5.

According to the WDH, Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County currently has five COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Sublette County

Sublette County has 36 active cases, with 503 recoveries, and 5 deaths, for a total of 544 cases since the pandemic began, according to the WDH.
