Casper City Councilman Bob Hopkins, Ward I, will not seek reelection. His term expires in January 2021.
A two-term councilman, Hopkins cited his age and desire to do other things.
“Those kinds of things are fun and I’m proud of having been able to serve Casper over the years a little bit but perhaps it’s time to move on a little bit,” Hopkins said.
He said he’s proudest of the development in the Old Yellowstone District during his time on council.
Prior to joining the city council, Hopkins served on the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission. He said he may be interested in rejoining the commission after he leaves his current office.
Councilman Charlie Powell, Ward II, has also announced he will not seek reelection in November.
Friday is the final day to file for Casper residents interested in running for city council.
